Ensure Your Hostile Wheels and Nitto Terra Grappler Tires Look Spiffy
20th Apr 2017
Some pickup truck owners are very dutiful about washing their vehicles on a regular basis, others put off this task until someone scrawls “wash me” into the dirt-caked tailgate. Even then, those words may still ring hollow for weeks or even months before they disappear under another layer of grime.
The goal of washing your truck on a regular basis is to keep it looking in excellent condition and protecting the resale value. It is also to ensure your Hostile wheels and Nitto Terra Grappler tires look spiffy. Because as you know; nothing is worse than a pickup truck with dirty wheels.
If the only water that touches your truck is rain or splash from puddles, you need to consider the reasons you need to wash your truck a little more often. How often you ask? Well, consider these guidelines.
Weather
What kind of weather is your truck exposed to on a daily basis? You might want to consider washing your truck more frequently if you live in a part of the country where the sun shines, it rains, it snows or there are heavy winds from time to time.
All kidding aside, if your truck is exposed to any of these elements on a daily basis, then you need to be washing it quite often.
Distance and Frequency You Drive
If you are logging hundreds of miles in your truck several days a week, you will need to wash it more often than if you only take it out for a few laps around the block once a week. This is because the more you drive your truck, the more it is exposed to dirt, mud, bugs and dust, or so we are told.
Location
The frequency in which you wash your truck also depends on your geographical location. If you live in an area near the ocean, near trees, near construction sites, in a place that has a lot of bugs, in an urban area with a lot of pigeons, in a rural area with a lot of pigeons or in an area where there is a lot of dust and dirt, then you need to wash your truck more often.
Storage Options
Consider where your truck is when you are at work or when you are at home. If you park your truck in your garage at home and in a covered area while you are at work, then you may not have to wash it quite as often.
If you don't have a garage and park your truck in the driveway under a tree full of pigeons or are forced to park your truck in an open parking lot at work under a tree full of pigeons, you might want to consider washing your truck more often.
Your Truck’s Appearance
If you prefer your truck to look nice and shiny and spiffy, then you need to wash it more often than the slob who takes absolutely no pride in how his truck looks.
There are some people who spend a lot of time tending to the needs of their truck while others are quite content doing only the bare minimal. That is, they are quite happy just gassing up their truck and occasionally having the oil changed.
It is the latter group of truck owners who need to consider the following reasons to wash your truck with greater frequency.
Dirt Does Damage
Dirt on your truck is more than just an unsightly annoyance, it can be very damaging. Dirt that is left unchecked on your truck can scratch your paint. That scratch on your paint caused by dirt can then turn into a chip, which will eventually rust and lead to the total demise of your truck. This will force you to have to get a second job in order to buy another pickup truck.
At the very least, that dirt on your truck will lead to color fade.
Fuel Efficiency
The dirt on your truck creates drag, which causes it to burn more fuel. Trucks aren't noted for their great fuel economy, and this certainly doesn't help. In fact, studies show that clean trucks are as much as 10 percent more fuel-efficient. You can't make this stuff up.
Safe Driving
If your truck is a filthy mess, it is likely that your windshield is dirty as well. You might think you can see everything perfectly fine; that is, until you break hard for what you thought was a dog bolting out into the street when in reality, it was just a glob of dirt caked on your windshield.
Prevent Illness
If you take a few minutes every week wiping down your truck and keeping it at least a little clean, chances are you are keeping the spreading of germs down to a minimum. Stop for a moment and think about the gross germs that are all over your truck. Then think about how many times you touch your truck over the course of a day; now stop and think about what germs are on your hands right now. Now, get up and go wash your truck before you get the flu.
