New Truck Wheels and Bike Types
6th Jul 2017
You spend a lot of money on your truck. For example, you just bought new truck wheels, Fuel wheels, and a set of Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. Now, these are all components you needed to have for your truck. After all, you aren't driving anywhere on bald tires and cheap truck wheels. But your wife was a little upset when you spent all of that money on the new chrome grill. That set you back more than you had expected.
But you recovered from that financial disaster and you are ready to move on with your life. Except now the wife wants to start a new hobby, something that she says will be good for both of you. She wants to start riding bikes.
Here is the deal; she is not satisfied with getting a couple of bikes from Walmart and riding them around the block a couple of time a week, she wants specialized bikes that can be thrown in the back of the pickup truck and driven to exotic biking locations.
So you do your husbandly duties and start shopping for bikes on the internet. There is just one problem; you have no idea where to start. You see, back in the good ole days, you had two choices of bikes; the type with the short, fat wheels and the type with long, skinny wheels.
Today, there are so many types and styles of bikes it is making your head spin. So you need help.
The first thing you will want to do is sit down with the lady of the house and discuss what type of bike riding the two of you will be doing. If you both agree that you want to ride your bikes on mountain trails, then you should consider getting mountain bikes.
Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes are incredibly versatile, all-terrain bikes that are fun for the entire family. They feature a different type of suspension, knobby tires that go just about anywhere and are built in a variety of sizes.
Just because it’s called a mountain bike doesn't mean you have to ride in in the mountains. These type of bikes are great for dirt trails, street riding or if you get a fat bike, you can ride in the snow.
Road Bikes
Road biking is a great way to improve your fitness, meet new and interesting people and enjoy new environments, which is why your wife thinks you two should buy road bikes.
If you are into long distance riding or riding for speed, then you might want to look into buying a pair of road bikes. Road bikes are super lightweight with really narrow wheels and tires. And they don't have any suspension either.
You see, road bikes aren't built for trails, dirt and hills, they are built for speed and long travel on paved roads. Which is why they are called road bikes.
Cruiser Bikes
Cruiser bikes are as fun to look at as they are to ride. Cruiser bikes are for those who don’t need to speed up a hill or ride 200 miles to show off their prowess. Simply put, cruiser bikes are for short trips to the liquor store or auto parts store, they are not for any type of adventure riding.
Cruiser bikes are easy to use, they have only one gear, which means you aren't distracted trying to figure out the best gear for climbing that hill. They are built so you sit up straight, like you do in your easy chair so they are comfortable and they have large, flat and cushioned seats to ensure your rear end doesn't ache at the end of the ride.
Best of all, cruiser bikes are inexpensive and easy to maintain. This means you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money buying them and keeping them up and in good running condition. Which leaves you more money to spend on wheels for your truck.
Now, cruiser bikes are for short trips only, which means you can’t take that 200-mile bike ride your road bike friends do and you can’t take a cruiser bike on that steep mountain trail.
What’s that?
Well, that was a quick decision. We hope you have fun with your new cruiser bikes.
