When You Retire, Buy Fuel Wheels and Get a Hobby
23rd Feb 2018
Back in the day, if you were a man and were lucky enough to live to retirement age, you would spend your golden years sipping lousy canned beer while sitting on a rocker on the front porch yelling at the neighborhood kids to stay off your lawn.
Boy, times sure have changed.
Nowadays, the majority of working males make it to retirement, and many of them work years beyond the age in which they could retire. And the hobbies that they engage in upon retirement have changed over the years as well.
Thanks to advances in medicine and technology, if you eat decently enough and quell your bad habits when you are in your 20s, you can expect a retirement where you aren't hooked up to an iron lung, kidney dialysis machine or stuck in a wheelchair.
What this really means is that the days of 60 and 70-year old men sitting on their porch day in and day out are behind us. You can expect your average male retiree to be active in the community and out and about doing the things they have always wanted but just didn't have the time when they were part of the workforce.
For some of you out there, retirement means you can buy the truck of your dreams and conquer some mountain trails. You even have the gumption to swap out those stock truck wheels for a sweet set of Fuel wheels, Moto Metal wheels or Hostile wheels.
Now that you are retired and you have the truck that you have always desired, here are a few hobbies you should look into.
Gardening
Gardening has many benefits for retirees, it is healthy, therapeutic and an enjoyable form of exercise. The physical activity you get while gardening keeps you mobile, at a healthy weight and strong. As an added bonus, you get to reap the rewards of keeping a garden in the fall when you harvest your labors. This means fresh vegetables with your meals and fresh herbs for the dishes you prepare.
And because you have a truck, heading over to the nursery for garden supplies is a piece of cake.
Golfing
Seniors who gold enjoy a fun sport that also offers plenty of health benefits. Golfing is a great way to get exercise and it helps improve flexibility and ease of motion. Additionally, golf is an outdoor game so you get plenty of sunshine and fresh air. It’s a fun way to get your daily dose of vitamin D.
Since you own a truck, you can purchase a golf cart and haul it to the course when you go golfing. Maybe Fuel would design a set of wheels for your golf cart if you would ask.
Dancing
Dancing is not only a fun way to spend an afternoon, it is a great way for seniors to get exercise and socialize. We are betting that this is an activity your spouse would love as well.
Dancing will improve your gait, balance and overall functioning all while reducing your risk of falls, bone breaks and immobility.
Cooking
Cooking and baking can be a whole lot of fun when you take the time to learn a little about the hobby. Read a few books or magazines on the subject to get the gist of what you want to prepare. If reading bores you, there are plenty of cable shows dedicated to cooking that you could watch.
When you do make a dish that actually tastes good, you are really proud of yourself and it inspires you to learn to make more dishes.
Remodel Your Home
You have a great set of tools and are pretty handy with them, so perhaps you should remodel your house. Use the extra time you have and make home improvements. This could be something as simple as changing out a few light fixtures to remodeling the entire kitchen.
And since you own a truck, you have the means to easily transport the supplies you need from Home Depot.
Travel
You have a truck, you have an awesome set of truck wheels and you are retired so you have all the time in the world so maybe you should go on a road trip and check out some new places.
Pack up your gear and your spouse and hit the road to a destination new to you. You don't have to pick a traditional vacation spot like Disneyland or Las Vegas, be brave and drive the roads that are less traveled.
Volunteer
Retirement gives you the time to give back to your community. Contact a charitable organization and see what kind of use they have for an awesome retiree with a pickup truck.
