You Need More Than Just a Truck With a Nice Set of Truck Wheels to Properly Traverse Off-Road Conditions

In our last post, we were discussing the fact that you need more than just a truck with a nice set of truck wheels to properly traverse off-road conditions. Before you head out in your 4x4 truck to scale a mountain, you need to understand your truck and the components that play a role in off-road driving. Now you need to see if there is any special equipment you need for your off-road journey.

Tires

You need a really good set of tires if you are planning an off-road adventure. Tires are what ensures good traction between your truck and the surface you travel. The all-season radials you have on your truck right now are quite useless in off-road conditions. So you had better invest in a set of Nitto Mud Grapplers, Nitto Terra Grapplers or Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Suspension

Far too many people make the mistake of buying a cheap lift kit. While these might make your truck look cool, they don’t always perform well in off-road conditions. Your suspension suffers the burden of the jolts and bounces experienced when driving rough terrain. Talk to an expert for advice on lift kits.

Bumpers

The stock bumpers on your truck won’t protect the front of your vehicle very well from the rocks, trees and other pesky stuff you will encounter up close and personal when you go four-wheeling. Find an aftermarket bumper that will protect your truck.

Winch

The more you take your truck out for some off-road fun, the more likely you will wind up getting into a sticky situation. In other words, you stand a good chance of getting stuck, especially if you like taking chances. When this happens, you will be glad you invested in a quality winch.

Snorkel

If you will be crossing streams or rivers in your truck, you will want to mount a snorkel to reduce the risk of injesting water into the engine. Sucking water into your engine is a bad, bad thing.

There you have it, the special equipment you will need if you want to do some off-road driving.
